Moto2 Tests in Barcelona: Teams happy with the Suter-MMX

The three days testing at the Circuit de Catalunya (Spain) saw the cream of the 125cc crop and some of the major players in Moto2 taking the opportunity to prepare further for the 2010 championship. It was a throughout successful testing for the Suter-MMX pilots with positive results.

Japanese rider Shoya Tomizawa set the pace
The second day of testing for the Moto2 class at Barcelona took place under far better conditions than the first (rain all morning) when only a few riders tested the water, of whom Roberto Rolfo completed the most laps - 35 in total - to get a feel for his Italtrans-STR Suter-MMX Moto2 bike. His teammate Robertino Pietri also went out with the same objective. At the end of the second day on Thursday it was however Technomag-CIP rider Shoya Tomizawa who reported the fastest time on its Suter MMX, ahead of Frenchman Jules Cluzel, also on a Suter-MMX. At 15 degrees Celsius and partly sunny more than 40 riders were on the track of Circuit de Catalunya. The fact that in the Suter-MMX bike of Tomizawa a standard off the shelf CBR-engine was mounted without any tuning surely values this excellent performance and a lap time of 1:49,3 even higher.

Italtrans-STR rider Rolfo dislocated his shoulder
Although Thursday started off relatively sunny and dry, damp patches and a cool track made for a treacherous track, which caught many riders out. The main victims were Roberto Rolfo and Alex Debon, two of the men tipped for success in the class, who both suffered serious shoulder injuries. We from Suter Racing wish both a speedy recovery and that they soon can take part again in the Moto2 events.

Marc VDS Racing Team conclude successful first test
Also on the second day of testing in Barcelona, the Belgian Moto2 racing team Marc VDS was very productive. As all the other riders in Montmeló, the two Marc VDS riders Scott Redding and Vincent Lonbois didn't loose any time taking advantage of the better conditions. The 17 year old English man Redding was even the first one on his Suter-MMX on the race track of Catalunya sharp at 10:00 AM. The Marc VDS Racing Team left on Friday satisfied with the progress done.

Good progress also for the teams Forward Racing and Viessman Kiefer Racing
Both Forward Racing and Viessman Kiefer Racing could also improve a lot on their lap times despite rain causing disruptions to the test schedule on two of the three days. The main focus was to get used to the Suter-MMX bike, to do some first setups and refine the procedures for the mechanics.

Aegerter fastest German-speaking Moto2 rider
The German/Swiss GP-pilots Stefan Bradl, Domi Aegerter and Tom Lüthi could not yet keep up the pace with the fastest in the new Moto2-class. Best of these three in the Barcelona test was Domi Aegerter, who came into this new category after competing three years in the 125-ccm-GP-class. He made a good entrance on the Suter-MMX of the CIP-Technomag team.
