Julian Simón second, Scott Redding third: Double podium for Suter MMX in Indianapolis

After taking the first three positions in qualifying for the Indianapolis Grand Prix, the Swiss Suter-MMX Moto2 prototypes confirmed their competitive level with two fantastic podium finishes in the race.

Reigning 125 cc world champion Julian Simón, who had started from pole position, led seven out of 16 laps to finish a close second and marked a new lap record on his way. British teenager Scott Redding confirmed his third qualifying position with third place in the race, and established himself firmly within the top contenders of the new category.

Julian Simón (60) leading the race ahead of Toni Elias (24) and Scott Redding (45)

“The bike worked very well today. We only struggled a bit with the heat and the tyres, because they start to slide excessively in these temperatures. But if we continue so work like that, it’s just a matter of time before we win our first race on Suter MMX”, beamed Simón.

Scott Redding (45) and Hector Faubel (55) started in front row

“Thanks to my team and also to Suter Racing Technology who organised a private test for me prior to this race. I learned a lot, and the set-up for this race was perfect”, said Redding.

Dominique Aegerter (77)

“Congratulations to both of them, they rode a great race. Redding’s team-mate Hector Faubel had the pace to go with them, and I am sorry for him that he crashed”, said Eskil Suter, CEO of Suter Racing Technology. “Dominique Aegerter, Mike di Meglio and Claudio Corti also scored strong results in eleventh, twelfth and 13th positon. We expected something similar from Stefan Bradl and his new team-mate Michi Ranseder, but they were unlucky and didn’t make it to the finish. But they were strong in practice and I am sure they will bounce back with a good performance next week at Misano!”
